Search Perry County Court Docket

A Perry County court docket search begins by matching the case to the right Tennessee trial court and clerk. Public Circuit and General Sessions entries may be found through the county court-record portal, while some civil, probate, juvenile, sealed, and older matters need direct clerk help. The Perry County court docket also works alongside the live court schedule, not as a replacement for it. Searchers can use a name or case number, check an adult hearing date, learn which office holds a file, and request a plain or certified court record when online details are not enough.

Perry County Court Docket Searches

The Perry Online Court Records search is the county's main web route for case lookup. It covers indexed Circuit Court and General Sessions cases. One field combines a Party Name search with an older Case Reference. You can also fill in the original Case Year and a Case Number. Court Type boxes separate Circuit from General Sessions. Case Type boxes separate Criminal from Civil. Before Find Now becomes active, a Cloudflare Turnstile check must be completed.

Pick the likely court first. Enter a full first and last name. A short fragment pulls too much noise. Add the filing year when you know it. For a formatted reference such as 99GS1-2023-CR-12345, portal help says to place only 12345 in Case Number, and any old Case Reference goes in the combined name and reference field. Review each hit, because similar names can point to different people or cases.

  1. Identify Circuit, General Sessions, Chancery, Probate, Juvenile, appellate, or federal jurisdiction.
  2. Open the Perry public form and select the likely court and case type.
  3. Search the full name, then add the original year or number when available.
  4. Compare the case number, court, filing year, and style before relying on a match.
  5. Call the correct clerk if the record is missing, restricted, old, or outside the visible portal choices.

Perry County Portal Search Fields

The Perry County docket portal keeps its controls lean. No judge, attorney, or date-range filter appears. There is no case status or filing type option either. Portal help says text searches use only the first ten words, and it describes phrase matching, normalization, and limited typo tolerance. Those aids help. They still cannot replace comparing each result with the original court record.

Help text says results may be sorted by a column header and may include a Filter box for visible result text. The Turnstile check can stop a session cold. If the form blocks progress, save the name, year, court, and record sought. Then contact the clerk instead of guessing.

Court Dockets: What They Show

A docket is a dated log of case activity. It can identify the case, the court, filed papers, scheduled proceedings, rulings, and disposition entries. A calendar may list only one hearing date. Neither product is the full case file. Because the Perry portal's record-detail layout varies, do not assume any specific result column, document image, or download tool.

Case identityCase number, case style, court, and original filing year.
PartiesRoles such as state, defendant, plaintiff, petitioner, or respondent, when public.
ActivityFilings, motions, settings, orders, judgments, and disposition events.
ScheduleUpcoming hearing or trial entries that still need live confirmation.
Full filePleadings, exhibits, orders, and certified copies held by the clerk.

Use the docket to find the record. When the wording matters, ask for the exact filing. A portal hit, a calendar event, a payment receipt, and a certified clerk copy are different records with different purposes.

Perry County Has Two Clerks

Perry County splits its court records between two offices. Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile records all sit with Joy Breeding, who serves as both Circuit Court Clerk and General Sessions Clerk. Her office receives pleadings and exhibits, enters minutes, keeps the dockets, and collects supported costs, fines, and traffic payments. Felony, criminal, traffic, and appeal questions usually start there.

Chancery and Probate are different. Those files live with Charlene Duplessis, the Clerk and Master, and cover estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, domestic relations, adoption, real-estate disputes, taxes, contracts, and other equity matters. The public search form shows no Chancery or Probate choices, even though a county page points toward the same court-record system family. Call her office directly. That is the sound fallback.

Perry County Courts and Their Dockets

Perry County's courts divide work by subject and stage. Circuit Court is the general-jurisdiction trial court in Tennessee's 32nd Judicial District. That district also includes Hickman and Lewis Counties. General Sessions handles misdemeanors, arraignments, and felony preliminary hearings. It also takes county traffic or ordinance matters. Civil cases must fall under the county's stated $25,000 limit. Chancery and Probate go through the Clerk and Master instead.

The Tennessee judicial district map confirms District 32. Older records may carry the former 21st Judicial District, since the current district began September 1, 2022. Keep the number on the original file.

Perry Court Administration Online

The official court-administration page puts the local clerk roles and schedule details in one county source. It shows which office holds which records. Its layout makes that plain: one courthouse does not mean one clerk keeps every docket.

Perry County court docket administration page

That administration page works well as a routing reference. Court dates, office details, and links can change, so confirm anything time-sensitive with the clerk who holds the case.

Court Dates and Settings in Perry County

The official Perry County court calendar publishes adult docket information. It is the strongest public preview for a scheduled adult session, but it is not a full case history. Juvenile names and settings are never posted. The month view offers start and end dates, Search, Print, location and distance filters, tags, author controls, and Subscribe or iCal functions.

General Sessions usually meets Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. The first and third weeks post as criminal dockets. The second week is published as traffic and civil. The county describes separate juvenile and child-support patterns, but protected juvenile items stay off the public adult listing. The docket week is posted by Wednesday. Events can still move, so a saved calendar event is not final proof of the setting.

Confirm before travel: Check the live calendar, then call the clerk with the case number, court, and date. A location filter is not a case-number search.

More date-search detail appears on the Perry County Court Schedule page.

Perry County Docket Access Channels

Searching online is just one option among several. For a Perry County court docket, you can query the portal, pull up the adult calendar, call the right office, or walk up to the clerk counter. A narrow mailed request is also possible once you confirm the procedure. The Clerk and Master lists a fax number too. Check first before assuming a fax will be accepted. The county offers no countywide records-request portal, no dedicated Circuit email, and no guaranteed public terminal.

  • Online: search indexed Circuit and General Sessions Criminal or Civil records.
  • Calendar: view adult sessions and use date or location controls.
  • Phone: call 931-589-2218 for Circuit, Sessions, or Juvenile routing.
  • Chancery and Probate: call 931-589-2217 for file and copy options.
  • In person: bring a name, case number, year, court, and document title.
  • Mail or fax: confirm acceptance, fee, payment, and delivery before sending.

Keep any request narrow. Say whether you want to inspect the file. Also say whether you need a plain copy or a certified copy. Leave out Social Security numbers, medical details, and payment-card information unless they are truly required. A county forms library carries court forms. None of them is a local open-records request form.

Docket Access Under Tennessee Law

Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 starts from open access to court records, and exceptions flow from the Public Records Act, other laws, court rules, or orders. Public access does not oblige the courts to post everything online. Sealed filings, confidential material, and juvenile records keep their protections. That holds either way.

Under the Tennessee Public Records Act FAQ, an agency must produce the record, deny the request, or give a reasonable completion estimate within seven business days when prompt production is not possible. Be specific in what you ask for. Exceptions can justify withholding or redaction, and authorized copy or labor costs may apply.

Does the file mix protected and open data? Ask whether the nonconfidential parts can come out. An empty online result does not prove a case never existed. One public docket entry does not open every document in the file.

Perry County Criminal Docket Paths

Plenty of Perry County criminal cases start in General Sessions, which handles arraignments, misdemeanors, and the early steps of felonies. A misdemeanor can finish there through dismissal, plea, trial, retirement, or diversion. Felonies often begin in Sessions and then move toward the grand jury and Circuit Court. One prosecution may have a lower-court start plus a later indictment. Run a docket search in both courts.

The wording matters. Retirement means the prosecution is not active at that moment, sometimes tied to a later date or conditions. It is not always a permanent dismissal. Judicial diversion can mean a conditional plea and probation. Expungement is possible after successful completion. Failing can bring a guilty finding. Read the later disposition or order before concluding anything. The Perry County Criminal Court Dockets page walks through charges, settings, motions, and stages. It also covers access limits.

Perry County Civil Docket Routes

Civil cases do not sit on a single Perry County docket. General Sessions takes limited civil matters under $25,000 as the county describes them. Circuit Court covers broader civil claims along with qualifying lower-court appeals. The Clerk and Master keeps Chancery and Probate matters. Those range from estates and guardianship to real estate and many domestic or equity proceedings.

Published 2025 Circuit statistics show 14 Perry civil filings. They list 9 dispositions for the reported year. Those numbers cover only that report's Circuit categories, not the county's whole civil workload. A separate official FY 2023-24 source reports far larger figures. Those span other civil, Chancery, and criminal categories. That gap is a reminder to attach the court and reporting period to every statistic.

Treat the numbers as context only. They do not count unique people, all pending cases, General Sessions civil matters, or the full Probate docket.

How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records

The Circuit and General Sessions Clerk attends court. The office also enters minutes, receives pleadings and exhibits, keeps the rule and execution dockets, and handles costs and process. The Clerk and Master maintains the Chancery and Probate record set. Each piece plays its own role. It might be a filed paper, a minute entry, a docket line, a calendar setting, or a judgment. Ask for the item that answers your real question.

For copies, give the case number if you have it. Add the party name, original year, court, and the exact document, and say whether you want plain or certified. The Chancery fee page, dated January 26, 2022, prices plain copies at $0.50 per page. Certified copies run $5 plus $0.50 per page, with fax or email copies at $1.00. Do not assume Circuit or General Sessions charge the same. Ask each office for its current rate and accepted payment.

When a request is broad, narrow it by document title or event. Get an estimate before authorizing extensive copying. Once papers arrive, check the case number, filing date, page count, and certification.

Perry County Appellate Docket Search

When a Perry County case moves up on appeal, it gets its own docket history. It often gets a new case number too. The Tennessee appellate public case-history search lets you look up appeals by Case Number, Case Style, Party Name, or Business or Organization. It does not replace the Perry County trial portal. State guidance says coverage generally starts with appellate cases after September 1, 2006. Documents on the site generally begin after August 26, 2013. Recent entries may lag behind the court docket itself.

Civil appeals land in the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Criminal appeals go to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals. At the top sits the Tennessee Supreme Court, the state's highest court. To follow a case's full path, search the county court docket and the appellate system separately. Federal District Court, bankruptcy, and Sixth Circuit matters run on federal systems too. They are not on the county portal.

Perry County Court Docket Source

For Perry County court records, start with the county's own courts hub. The official Perry County courts site posts clerk contacts, local rules, calendars, forms, and links for searching court dockets.

That hub is the public front door to the Perry County court system. Check its navigation to learn which clerk, schedule, or record system fits your case. The county site's Smart Search covers site articles only, not court docket cases.

City-by-City Court Dockets in Perry County

Perry County has just two incorporated towns: Linden and Lobelville. The 2020 Census counted 997 residents in Linden and 919 in Lobelville. Population, though, says nothing about court workload. What matters for a docket search is the county court site's note. Both municipal courts were folded into General Sessions. So a town name on a traffic ticket does not mean a separate city court or city database exists.

Linden Court Records

Linden is the county seat and courthouse location. Town administrative records belong with City Hall, while court dockets and consolidated traffic or ordinance matters generally start with Perry County General Sessions.

Lobelville Court Records

Lobelville is Perry County's second incorporated place. Use the city name as location context, then route judicial records through the appropriate Perry County clerk.

A city meeting calendar is not a court calendar. The Town of Linden and City of Lobelville sites can help with city contacts, but any hearing belongs with the Perry County calendar or clerk. If a town-linked citation does not appear online, do not assume another portal exists. Call the clerk with the citation number, agency, and date instead.

Map and Directions to the Perry County Courthouse

Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile files are kept by Joy Breeding's Circuit and General Sessions Clerk office on the second floor of the Perry County Courthouse at 121 E. Main Street in Linden, the county seat. Chancery and Probate files are kept in the same building by Clerk and Master Charlene Duplessis. Linden's and Lobelville's municipal courts were consolidated into General Sessions, so a town-linked traffic or ordinance matter is also filed here rather than at a separate city court.

Confirm which clerk holds the file before the trip, since Circuit and General Sessions records sit upstairs while Chancery and Probate records are handled by a separate office in the same building. No courthouse hours, parking, or security-screening policy were stated by the official sources reviewed, so calling ahead is the safer plan.
